South Duke Street Project Should Begin At Vine Street

The project is currently starting on South Duke below Church Street but the traffic problems actually begin at Vine Street, particularly at rush hours. Traffic tends to back up in the right (southbound) lane from Church Street to Vine Street between the interminably long light changes from about 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Drivers consistently run the red light at Church and some speed up the left (left turn only lane) and cut across in front of traffic to go south on Duke. We have sat on our front porch and watched this happen every day. Drivers displaying this disregard are also making it dangerous for pedestrians to cross south Duke at the north intersection. The long stop time between light changes for southbound traffic (greater than 2 minutes!) greatly increases the noise level in the neighborhood from loud vehicles and excessively loud music.
