Speeding and running stop signs

An accident happened today on James and 
Charlotte. People disregard the speed limit, blow through stop signs, and have a general disregard for any safety. People walk with kids and pets around here. Something needs to be done. Our whole street has too much speeding.

Id almost rather see a median island cars have to slow down to avoid and a conversion of the street to a shared bike street. That would slow cars down at that intersection and Im really not a fan of bike lanes in the door zone next to traffic.
Maybe convert the intersection into almost a small traffic circle?

Same story on our side of the city from 200 to 600 block of E. King St. Cars and motorcycles race down between shipping and Franklin on East King creating a hazard for motorists and pedestrians. And don’t get me started about the muffler laws because it is deafening at certain times during the late afternoon early evening. It would be lovely to have a police presence there some evening around 5:30.

@JR Ankney Yeah, the street there is kinda like a highway. Hopefully the 2 way conversion would help with that some? It would be nice to see additional traffic calming in the meantime.
