Speeding is an issue on East Chestnut from Franklin to Route 30.
From "Street Safety Concerns"
Go to the project
Speeding is problem on East Chestnut Street, particularly from Franklin Street thru Reservoir. If the violators run it right they can get thru the light at Reservoir and head to 30. Evenings are the worse. In the summer you can really follow the loud noise all the way to 30.

This stretch has always had speeders. It can be particularly dangerous when there are school aged kids and parents in mornings/afternoons, as well as rush hour. Not sure what can be done besides adding speed bumps every two blocks or something to deter speeders.

@Jonathan Ober I'm in favor of adding speed bumps. Safety has to outweigh convenience.

@Meg Martin I don't understand why we won't see more speed bumps on the city streets or speed risers after the highway connections from the East and North. Something needs to be done to encourage traffic slow down and abiding by the 25mph speed limit.
