Street safety

From "Street Safety Concerns"

Go to the project

  1. Pearl & 2nd intersection is the only one that doesn't have a stop sign. We should have one because it causes a lot of stress, and most people stop anyway!
  2. 3rd and Coral should have a stop sign because the visibility is very poor and risky. I've seen a lot of almost accidents there.
  3. Coral and Columbia Ave. is chaos as a 2-way street. It makes Coral St. and 1st St. intersection scary as well because people don't stop where they should.
  4. This is less about intersections and more about speed and noise concerns, but because we're a neighborhood with a high number of families and children, it's concerning to see how trucks and bikes speed through stop signs. In general, people are driving too quickly and pedestrians are at risk, particularly kids.
  5. For goodness ' sake, can we please get some sort of noise ordinance (that is ENFORCED) for these bicycles with gas engines and vehicles revving their engines in the middle of the night?
  6. Double parking has become a HUGE issue that causes safety concerns for both pedestrians and bikers. The lack of visibility for drivers and the level of aggression from those double-parked are both deeply concerning. People have gotten out of their cars to scream at neighbors. It's unhinged.

Those are my biggest safety concerns for pedestrians in the neighborhood, but I want to note that none of these things will be helpful without proper enforcement.
