It is required by law for vehicles to stop for pedestrians at crosswalk. However, this crosswalk sign indicates the pedestrians must wait for the cars to stop. A wise choice because nobody wants to get hit by a car, unfortunately, even with the pedestrian light flashing and you are standing there, waiting, staring down the cars … cars refused to stop to let pedestrians cross the street in the crosswalk.
