Instead of more Luxury Condos...for those that can afford to live wherever they choose. Why not take some of these old warehouses...and turn them into living quarters for the vast number of Homeless within our community?
The first floor could have a health room/Nurses Station...job training room(s), other spaces on the first floor...could be businesses...for after their job training is completed...the homeless can work out of the same space that they live...only now they will be self-sustaining, after training they will have 3 months after completing their job training. Then they will have to start paying a small amount of rent. Say...(250.00) monthly. This can build self-esteem in them. Give back their pride. Help them to ease back into society...all while learning a trade where they can pay their own way eventually. Baby-Steps...to a more secure/self-sustaining future. We'll do this because we care about all of our community members.
