Rob Sternberg4 years ago It's Fourth of July weekend, which used to be almost the only time people set off fireworks. I don't really care about the use of fireworks by individuals, which overall don't compare in noise output to the shows approved by the municipalities in our area. Now, in Lancaster City, we have twenty or so fireworks shows per year. How many times do Barnstormers fireworks happen each season, 15 or so? These are approved by the city. Perhaps some people come to the games for these displays, but what about the people who live in the neighborhood? We live about a mile or so away from Clipper Stadium, and the noise is extremely bothersome. When I have eaten on College Row during a fireworks event, the noise was deafening and completely ruined the dinner experience. Other sources of noise in the city are also bothersome but harder to control. Barnstormers fireworks is a point source of excessive noise that would be easy to limit, since the shows are approved by the City. Have neighbors of Clipper Stadium ever been surveyed for their thoughts about this? Noise pollution in the city is a common complaint, and is one thing that might make me abandon living in the City. The usual reaction of city officials to noise complaints is, "we know it's a problem, but we can't really do anything about it." That's not true, and here is one thing that could be easily done which I think would help increase the quality of the city life.

Rob Sternberg4 years ago I live across from Buchanan Park. Here, and EVERYWHERE in the city, people park too close to the corner. The obstructed views from these parked cars have and will continue to lead to pedestrian, bicycle and auto accidents. Drivers are not aware of the distance from the corner where parking is prohibited (or know and ignore it). Painted curbs would help by being more obvious, I know my neighbor and I would be willing to do this ourselves, as I am sure people in other part of the city would.

Rob Sternberg4 years ago In my Buchanan Park neighborhood, noise pollution is getting worse, and may one day drive me out of the city. One source is traffic. Another os the terrible Barnstormers fireworks displays. A third is the annoying barking and yapping from the dog park. Might some signage be placed in the dog park to ask people to be considerate of neighbors who can actually hear their stupid dogs barking nonstop. Add some occasional enforcement, and this could have an impact. Is there a Dog Park Users Group that could be asked to do something, anything. I used to like Buchanan Park, now I kind of hate it. The users all benefit from city maintenance. Can't they do something in return to curb their dogs' enthusiasm.
