Ann Salmon10 months ago With Buchanan park, the dog park, and the North Museum, parking was not always easy for the residents who have to park on the street on Buchanan and N West End. Since West Art opened, it has gotten so much worse. I don’t understand how people can open businesses in a residential area, without showing that they have available parking. It should not be the residential streets where people don’t have off street parking. It is thoughtless even to consider that to be okay. Since the idiotic bike lanes and white posts have been installed, the parking has only decreased, with few bike riders using the bike lanes.

Ann Salmon2 years ago I am not sure what you mean by institutions. Businesses? Schools? Parks? Colleges? Universities? Museums? I live across from the dog park. We have : business ( West Art) museum (North Museum), Buchanan Park with dog park, bocce in the summer, school outings. F & M students and faculty already think Buchanan Ave is a great place to park, and they never get ticketed. There are times when there’s little activity, but more often the parking is difficult because of the above.

Ann Salmon2 years ago Confused about permits allowing use other than restricted, and about visitor permits. Would increase daytime permits to 8 pm, and have staffing to enforce those hours. It seems to me, if you have a residential permit, it should cover your parking 24/7. Businesses should not be allowed or changed in current buildings in which a large increase in customers is expected, unless they can show they have planned for parking, without using residential area, particularly in the evenings. I would prefer permit parking only! Would pay more for permits if they were enforced more often than street sweeping days. Would definitely add permit stickers to cars, so residents can recognize a neighborhood vehicle, and would pay more to have those as well as license verification. None of it will be better if it’s not enforced.
