3 South East Parks Design: Ewell Gantz, Joe Jackson, South End

The City of Lancaster needs your help! We're redesigning 3 neighborhood parks in South East and South Side neighborhoods: Ewell Gantz Playground, Joe Jackson Tot Lot, and South End Park.

Joe Jackson and Ewell Gantz will be under construction in late summer and fall of 2026. View the plans for these parks in Phase 6, below.

South End Park planning is still underway - we're still accepting public feedback on this plan! Construction anticipated in 2028 or 2029. View the concept plans for South End Park in Phase 7, below.

South End Park Design Public Review

During this phase, the public is invited to review and comment on the proposed design for South End Park. Plans were rolled out at a public event on Monday, July 27 from 5:30-7pm at South End Park. You can still Take the Poll Online to let us know what you think! If you have additional thoughts or comments, please email Emma at emhamme@cityoflacnasterpa.gov. Comments will be accepted thru August 31.

The Plan

This image shows a concept plan for the park. It includes updated and accessible bathrooms, a new play area, a new splash pad / water play area, a trike track and some skate elements, a picnic area and grill, a playground, an accessible swing, and a multi-use field or event lawn. The site plans include the addition of several trees to add shade and keep the park cool.

Building Options

This image shows two potential options for the South End Park building. One option involves renovating the existing building and adding new bathrooms and a vestibule. The second option involves demolishing the existing building to build a new, energy efficient building with new features like a kitchenette and interior storage.
