Conestoga Pines Park & Walnut Street Fishing Area Master Plan
The City is preparing a Master Plan for the Conestoga Pines Park and Walnut Street fishing area. Conestoga Pines is recognized as an integral part of the City park system, providing connections to natural wooded areas and the Conestoga River. Programming from the Lancaster Recreation Commission ensures active use of the space with day camps and the city’s only full-size swimming pool. The revitalization of parks within Lancaster is an ongoing program designed to improve amenities and accessibility, provide a variety of recreational opportunities, and encourage individual and family use of natural and recreational areas, as well as integrate park improvements with other City initiatives such as natural resource conservation, increased tree canopy, expanded bike and pedestrian facilities/trails, and public education and involvement.
Public input will be solicited in various ways from residents and park users to identify the general needs and values regarding these outdoors spaces. This input will be used to identify potential improvements and redevelopment of the park, which will then be presented to the public for additional feedback. This feedback will be used to refine the plan which will then be finalized. This Master Plan will then be used to develop projects that can be implemented.
