South Duke Street Mobility
The City of Lancaster plans to make South Duke Street a safer, more community-friendly corridor for people who live, work, and play here. Data shows that things like slower speed limits, more visible crosswalks, lighting, better sidewalks and bike lanes can all help reduce accidents and injuries.

But before breaking ground on any of these plans, the City would like to hear your thoughts, ideas and experiences on the neighborhood streets. You know where the sidewalks and crosswalks need to be improved, where you like to cross the street (and where you don’t), where you see drivers speeding, and where we need more light, more trees, and places to sit.
The input and ideas you provide will help make the Corridor, and all of the Southeast, a place where our community can safely walk, ride, drive, bike and get together.
Questions? Want to talk to someone about your ideas? Contact Cindy McCormick, Deputy Director, Right-of-Way at: (717) 291-4729.
COMMUNITY RESPONSE UPDATE
Summary of Responses from Community Engagement
The shared use path option received 53% of the votes and the separated bike lane received 40% of the votes. This feedback received will be used to develop and refine the shared use path option. The shared use path on Duke Street will happen after roadway improvements as there needs to be additional engagement related to the Duke Street mall area and how to best use this space. Another public meeting will occur in the fall to present the final plan.
