Home Rule Information Sessions

The Home Rule Study Commission has developed a proposed Home Rule Charter for the City of Lancaster. The Commission is seeking feedback on the draft charter from city residents.

  • Attend one of three information sessions on 7/29 (City Hall, 6 pm), 7/31 (Virtual, 6:30 pm), 8/6 (City Hall, 6 pm).
  • Attend a regularly scheduled Home Rule Study Commission meeting, see the calendar online at cityoflancasterpa.gov.
  • Submit your feedback on the charter online using the form linked below.

Home Rule on the Ballot!

November 5, 2024

On November 5th Lancaster City voters will decide whether to adopt a Home Rule Charter for the City of Lancaster. The Sorace Administration is recommending Home Rule as a solution to help build a stronger, more equitable Lancaster. By adopting Home Rule, Lancaster could have more tools to control expenses and provide for other ways to raise revenues besides property taxes.
