Two-Way Restoration Study

About the Study

The Two-Way Restoration Study evaluated nine of the City's one-way streets for two-way feasibility. Study corridors included the city's primary east-west and north-south road network: Prince, Queen, Duke, Lime, Church, King, Orange, Chestnut and Walnut Streets. Evaluation was based on community feedback, traffic operations analysis, and business and property impacts.

The east-west pair of Orange and King streets has been selected as the most feasible for 2-way travel. Scroll down to review the concepts and provide feedback.

Local Example of Two-Way Restoration

Mulberry and Charlotte Streets were converted from one-way back to their original two-way configuration in 2016-2018.

April 30, 2026 - May 19, 2026

During the prior phase of this project, we evaluated the restoration of 4 corridors including a north/south pair (Queen/Duke Streets) and an east/west pair (Orange/King Streets). Following this evaluation, the east-west pair of Orange and King streets was selected as the most feasible for 2-way travel. We then conducted further study and developed preliminary concepts for these two corridors. We shared the concepts for restoration of King and Orange Streets (shown below) with stakeholders and at the Vision Zero Open House, held April 22-23 at the Lancaster Public Library.

We are now seeking input from our on-line community. Please take some time to review the concepts shown below and share your feedback. Instructions are provided below.
